Ground Operations: Battlefields to Farmfields
GROUND OPERATIONS: BATTLEFIELDS TO FARMFIELDS
A New Documentary Film from Dulanie Ellis & Raymond Singer
GROUND OPERATIONS follows an ensemble of vets from Iraq and Afghanistan who went to war for all the right reasons and survived the war, only to face a daunting transition back to civilian life. Organic food production is creating a restorative road home. Working with the soil, plants and animals gives veterans a chance to de-escalate from the high velocity impact of combat in a revitalizing natural setting. “I realized I could be a nurturer, instead of a destroyer, and that was a significant realization for me,” says a Marine.
Ground Operations is a call to action featuring a documentary film, companion book, and national tour. Their goal is to strengthen the veterans-in-agriculture network and increase resources, so that veterans can create healthy new lives for themselves and food security for America.
