Mindfulness and yoga practices can be critical tools for reducing experiences of violence and trauma. Yet, despite the evidence of benefits, there are many barriers to effectively introduce these tools to communities that are often disenfranchised and disconnected. The course focuses on creating skilled instructors that are able to bring mindfulness and yoga out of the studio and into the community in ways that are both meaningful and sustainable. The training will be facilitated by Drs. Robin Petering, Nicholas Barr and MyPath Peer Ambassadors with lived-experience of homelessness. Designed for social workers, advocates, yoga teachers, volunteers, grade school teachers, and anyone that is interested in promoting holistic wellness in non-traditional communities.
