About

Forty years ago, HBO upended the three major broadcast networks’ total domination of TV viewership in the United States, ushering in a new age of television. The new technology of the day – cable and satellite – enabled HBO to deliver content into the home, and this disruption sparked the big bang of channel expansion, forever fragmenting audiences around niche programming.

Today, the entertainment industry is in the midst of another rapid disruption. Following an exponential growth of technology over the past decade, mobile devices, platforms and on-demand television are influencing viewers’ consumption of entertainment and simultaneously spawning the creation of new content genres and channels. This panel examines The New Disruptors – the people and companies poised to shape, capitalize on and dominate this entertainment space.
