1) How to Raise Capital for Your Venture
Friday, November 16, 2pm - 5pm

What every entrepreneur needs to know about raising capital for their venture. Special emphasis will be placed on raising money for a Social Enterprise.

Learn from a veteran LA venture capitalist, alongside a guest Social Angel Investor, in this updated version of Jon’s successful 3-hour intensive course where he covers how to plan for, find, and raise capital for your startup. Special consideration will be paid to hybrid start-ups and how to integrate a social mission into your pitch.

Topics covered are:
• How to construct your deck
• Valuation defined and explained
• Descriptions of available capital sources including crowdfunding, VC’s, angel networks, JOBS Act
• Lists of all local active incubator/accelerators and other local service provider resources
There will be networking breaks, food, drinks and handouts of the presentation.

Prerequisites - Class open only to founders or founders-to-be. No service providers please.

Companies that go through this workshop are elible to attend the second part of the series.

About Jon Funk – Ocean Road Partners
Jon Funk is the founder of Ocean Road Partners and a veteran Los Angeles venture capitalist and Advisor to Hub Los Angeles. He directed first-round investments in numerous startups, including LA-area successes Sandpiper Networks (acquired for $630 million in 2000), Rent.com (acquired for $430m 2004) and Shopzilla (acquired for $560M in 2005). He is an Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at Pepperdine University and was inducted into the Los Angeles Venture Association Hall of Fame in 2012.
