Civic Innovation Open Design Session
October 10-12
9:00am-6:00pm
Civic Innovation Lab, Los Angeles – part design lab, part community caucus, part accelerator of urban solutions – is dedicated to the development of real solutions designed with and for communities throughout Los Angeles. Powered by Hub LA and Learn Do Share, The Lab will pilot a new model for civic engagement and the acceleration of urban solutions utilizing available government data and the ingenuity of engaged citizen stakeholders over a ten month period.
The Civic Innovation Lab will use the analysis from the community launch and data discovery period as building blocks for an exciting two-day Learn Do Share session that engages a diverse group of citizens in a collaborative design process based on civic themes such as transportation, health, public safety, sustainability, and small business. This “think and do” session will focus on empathy, storytelling, technology, and play in order to craft detailed design challenges for the next phase of the Lab - Call for Solutions.
We are looking for engaged storytellers, creative technologists, designers, social workers, policy makers, activists, educators, engineers, and scientists to participate in the October 10-11 Open Design Session. If you are interested, please apply here.
The session culminates in a Public Day on October 12, which will include a mix of talks, workshops, and labs. We invite anyone to join and provide feedback on the civic innovation challenges developed during the open design session, as well as on the Civic Accelerator structure.
If you would like to join us for the October 12 Public Day, please RSVP here.
